Cadbury chocolate:’Listeria’ scare, Cadbury chocolate dessert recalled from UK
Thousands of Cadbury products are being recalled from UK stores over listeria fears. Sky News has given information in this regard. People who bought products from this batch have been warned not to eat them. Instead, they were told to return it to them for a refund, Sky News said.
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Listeria infection is said to be a foodborne illness (called listeriosis). This disease is usually caused by eating food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Pregnant women and people over the age of 65 are most at risk as the bacteria attack the immune system.
Britain’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) has also urged consumers to check the expiry date of products on its website. The agency has issued an alert for Crunchy, Dame, Flake, Dairy Milk Buttons and Dairy Milk Chunks 75g chocolate desserts.
It is sold separately in all supermarkets, Sky News said. Crunchy and flake desserts have use-by dates of May 17 and 18, respectively. Meanwhile, after getting this information, it has also come to notice that the supermarket chain Muller is recalling this product.
“Müller has recalled certain batches of various Cadbury branded dessert products due to the possibility of Listeria monocytogenes. This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure,” the FSA said in a statement. The symptoms of listeriosis are similar to the flu. These include fever, muscle aches or pains, chills, feeling sick or diarrhea, the CDC says.
There is also a risk of miscarriage
Signs and symptoms of Listeria infection can also vary depending on the person infected and the body part affected. In rare cases, the infection can become more serious. This can lead to problems like meningitis. On the other hand, it has also been said if a pregnant woman gets listeriosis, there is a risk of miscarriage.
